Typhoon "Glenda" devastated Philippines

Metro Manila - About 5.3 Million Meralco (Manila Electric Company) consumers lost supply of Electricity due to Super Typhoon GLENDA.

According to MERALCO Spokesman Joe Zaldaraga, about 4:00am when the supply of Electicity was being Cut-off to avoid any possible accident due to the Strong Typhoon.

Zaldaraga admits that the problems of Supply of electricity is very big, because many transformers and post were downed and destroyed due to strong wind that carried by typhoon Glenda. And even Luzon Transmission Lines were downed which causes a wide Black-out in different parts of Luzon.

National Grid Corporation of the Philippines or NGCP says that the Transmission Lines being down are the Calamba Franchise Area in Laguna, Gumaca in Quezon, Daraga in Legaspi City, Naga Limbanan in Camarines Sur, Paranas in Eastern Samar, Catbalogan Franchise area, Catarman in Northern Samar and Tayabas-Naga in Bicol Region.

But according to them, all their Response Team are in full force to repair all the damage, that the Supply of Electricity will resume as soon as possible.

The MERALCO management are asking apology to their consumers for the delay of Electric supply in their area.
