Guillo Servando Hazing Victims

Valenzuela Manila - Representative Sherwin Gatchalian of Valenzuela City pledges to the people to support  his Bill (Servando Act) to be implented as a Law to give a more strict penalty to those who will continue to disobey the Anti-Hazing Law. Mr. Gatchalian named his new bill after Guillo Servando a student of De La Salle College of St. Benilde that was killed because of Hazing in Fraternity of Tau Gamma Phi.

House Bill 4714 or Servando Act will Amend Republic Act 8049 also known as "Anti-Hazing Law" of 1995 that this Law did not actually prohibits Hazing but only under regulation.

It also said in the House Bill 4714 the Legalization and Accreditation of every Fraternities and Sororities in all Colleges and Universities to closely monitored the said organizations. And that every organizations will have a copy of the constitution and by laws.

Gatchalian reiterated, that it was not the Fraternity or Sorority is the problem, but the used of Hazing in Initiation rites to those new members or neophytes.

Under Servando Act 4714, every Universities and Colleges will be acountable in fraternity activities because every Schools shall served as a regulatory body of the said organizations.
